On this piece, here it is…

I’m not a gun owner, but I am someone who I guess has a nuanced view of gun control which probably doesn’t satisfy conservatives or liberals.

I don’t think most gun laws work, as criminals will get ahold of guns no matter what laws you put in place. You’d have to start with the manufacturers, not with the dealers. I also think that gun laws mostly make it hard for law abiding citizens from obtaining weapons to defend themselves and their homes, not from allowing criminals to acquire guns. The mass shootings we’ve had are horrible and there are many that took place from legally acquired guns, but I think this is more a symptom of a gun culture in America and a lust for violence that is different than anywhere else in the world. I’ve been to a gun range a total of two times. I enjoyed it, I liked shooting skeet and trap. I can relate to sportsmen outside NY who enjoy it as well. I can’t relate to the ones who think semi-automatic and automatic weapons are guns for sport, or that large magazines are necessary. However, making those guns illegal doesn’t make them harder to obtain for criminals who want them. Drug war and prohibition of alcohol will show you a similar misplaced solution. Again, I think if you want those types of guns to not exist you need to find some way for them to stop being produced at all before they can get on the black market where they will be obtained one way or another. This is a production/manufacturing problem, not a gun owner or dealer one which is impossible to solve.

Cosign, completely.

All those countries that have eliminated guns are, apparently, magical and impossible. That or they just possess that can-do american attitude we no longer possess.

It amazes me rational people say banning guns is impossible, when it’s been done by several countries in the world. Who also had gun factories. It’s like a Frenchman insisting in 1970 that no one could ever go to the moon, even though another country has already done it.

Magical Australian gun eliminating gnomes! You didn’t REALLY do it. Because the NRA has taught me it’s impossible! Never mind the evidence that you did, actually, do it, and without much difficulty.

I can completely understand your position. But here’s a question(s) for you: Guns like AR15’s can be made with CNC...
