“We’re experiencing a fire drill so we can’t meet with you tomorrow.”
Really Ms. Media Planner? Isn’t the idea of a fire drill is that it is a SURPRISE? Why is today’s fire drill causing you to cancel tomorrow’s meeting? And if the fire drill is tomorrow, why do you have advance notice of said fire drill?
If you want to cancel a meeting, just cancel it. Don’t feed me a line of bullshit. I’ve been doing this for too long. Be honest; it’s better for everyone.
In said person’s defence, the fire drills @ our office are scheduled in advance. We actually had a whole brouhaha one time when a bunch of bigwig clients were coming in during a scheduled fire drill. It was kind of an issue. Actually I think we have one tomorrow too. HEY WAIT A MINUTE. Oh wait. We don’t have any media planners. Whew. ;)
