Twenty-five years ago today, New Order released ‘Substance,’ a compilation of the band’s singles and respective B-sides, plus new single “True Faith” and its B-side, “1963.”
Oh. My. God. I remember that day. I remember going to the store to buy it. I remember waiting for a week to get it, because, inexplicably, “True Faith” was in advance rotation on the radio in Fairbanks, Alaska. I remember hearing 1963 and almost crying. I remember waiting another 16 weeks for my mail order vinyl. I still have the long box.
